Pick by your list size, the timer types your emails need, and whether the timer has to match your design. Price matters less than it looks: most of these tools cost under $10 a month for a small store.
What they all do the same
Email can't run code, so a countdown in an email is a GIF. When someone opens the email, their email app asks the tool's server for the image, and the server draws the time left at that second. You paste the tool's image tag into an HTML or image block, and it works in Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot and any other platform that shows images.
They share the same limits too. Outlook for Windows shows only the first frame of a GIF, so the time is right at opening but the digits don't tick. Apple Mail downloads images when the email arrives, so a timer can show the time left at delivery. Whatever tool you pick, write the deadline in the email text as well.
Where they differ
Three things separate them.
The free plan. Free plans range from 10,000 views without a watermark (Sendtric) to unlimited views with a badge (CountdownMail). A view is one open of an email with the timer in it, so multiply your list by the timer emails you send in a month.
The timer types. Every tool counts to one date. For automated emails you need a timer that starts at each person's first open, or one that reads each person's date from a merge tag, and most tools charge for those. Fewer tools offer repeating deadlines ("order by Friday"), count-up timers or a changing link after the deadline.
The design. Most tools give you a form or a set of templates with settings. NiftyImages has a layered visual designer. BrandTimer gives you the template's HTML and CSS and can restyle it from your website.

BrandTimer BusinessWhere BrandTimer fits
We make BrandTimer, so read this part with that in mind. We built it for the timer that sits next to the offer in a designed email and has to look like part of it. You can open any of 50 templates and edit its HTML and CSS, or paste your site's address and let BrandTimer apply your colors and fonts. Pro covers 500,000 views a month for $10, with first-open and per-contact deadlines. Business adds repeating deadlines, a link that changes after the deadline, and an end-date card for Apple Mail.
What we don't have: count-up and send-time timers, polls or other widgets, uploading font files, a public API, and a long track record. BrandTimer is new in 2026.
